Commissioned by the Fondazione Merz and Liban Art, Zena El Khalil produced a limited edition artist book (500 unique copies) 96% Love 4% Beirut :: Zero :: Śūnya.

The project

Developed a concept book. The box set includes a hand-bound book of the poem 96% Love 4% Beirut :: Zero :: Śūnya in English and Arabic as well as a limited edition art piece which includes 24 prints and 1 original artwork. The poem, written over five years, depicts the journey the artist undertook in order to create the works shown at the groundbreaking solo exhibition in Beirut entitled “Sacred Catastrophe: Healing Lebanon.”

I explored Latin and Arabic script in order to find the perfect type pairing that would match the delicateness and the sophistication of the written word.
